Prostate Cancer Screening

Prostate Cancer Screening

What is the frequency of prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in men. During their lifetime, 1 in 6 men (16%) develop prostate cancer. Early diagnosis is important in prostate cancer. Early diagnosis increases the success rate of treatment.

How is prostate cancer diagnosed?

Prostate cancer is diagnosed by elevated blood PSA levels followed by prostate biopsy under ultrasound guidance. However, even if the biopsy result does not confirm cancer, abnormally high or continuously rising PSA levels cause suspicion of cancer to persist. In these cases, a new imaging technique called multiparametric prostate MRI provides significant contributions.
