Breast Cancer Screening

Mammography is a method that takes X-ray images of the breast to detect cancer at an early stage. With this method, breast imaging is performed on all women above a certain age in the population, aiming to catch breast cancer early. This type of mammography used for population-wide breast cancer screening is called screening mammography.

Screening mammography is the most widely used early detection method for breast cancer worldwide. It is recommended that every woman over 40 years of age undergoes mammography annually until the age of 70. In high-risk patients, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be added to the screening process.

Our center performs breast cancer screening using digital mammography devices equipped with tomosynthesis technology. Tomosynthesis allows capturing thin sectional images of the breast, reducing the chance of missing breast cancer. Breast cancer screening at our center is conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Levent Çelik.
